Phyllis Trowbridge works en plein air鈥攑ainting out of doors, on site鈥攁nd her compositions, in watercolor, charcoal, and oil, capture the beauty and nuances of light, atmosphere, texture, and space. But her works are more than simply transcriptions of landscapes. They are, instead, about looking deeply and responding, both intellectually and emotionally to what she sees. Trowbridge has lived in Oregon since the mid-1990s. She is a graduate of Hamilton College and received her MFA from American University in Washington, D.C.
