How do I make up an Incomplete or the “I” grade?
Updated October 14, 2022
An Incomplete grade can be assigned when the quality of the work is satisfactory, but some minor, yet essential, requirement of the course has not been completed, and for reasons acceptable to the instructor, a report of 鈥淚鈥 may be made and additional time granted for the completion of the work.
If the course is not completed within a year, the 鈥淚鈥 will be administratively changed to an 鈥淣P鈥 unless the instructor submits another grade.聽 The conditions for completion of the work should be stated in writing, signed by the instructor and the student, and kept on file in the department or program office.聽 An 鈥淚鈥 may not be assigned as a withdrawal.聽 An 鈥淚鈥 does not entitle a student to repeat a course without paying tuition.聽 It may be impossible to receive an 鈥淚鈥 in some courses where, for example, equipment usage is required.
