What is General Education?

Each school has a unique name that they refer to as General Education (GE). For example, Oregon State University calls their GE, Baccalaureate Core. Portland State calls theirs University Studies and University of Oregon calls theirs Group Requirements.
General Education usually consists of a set number of classes in聽various聽subjects from the聽categories聽of Arts and Letters, Social Science, and Math and Science.
