Make a request
Students can make requests for class materials through the accommodation process.
Staff and Faculty can learn when to request captioning and audio description on the Communication Access page.
We are here to:
- Encourage people to select videos that are already accessible whenever possible. This means searching for content that has quality captions and a style of narration that describes visual elements well.
- Provide consultation to help determine when additional work is needed for captioning or audio description.
- Produce or obtain accessible versions of un-captioned or un-described media when needed.
- Send notifications to instructors when students need captioning or audio description.
- Instructors should respond to notices from Accessible Ed & Disability Resources promptly
- Course presentations needn’t be delayed because of inaccessible materials
Kaltura Extended Audio Description
Here is an example of a video that has both closed captions and audio description tracks enabled.
- The CC button is used to turn the captions on and off.
- The AD button will turn audio description on and off. We are using Extended Audio Description, which means the video will pause to announce the audio descriptions then resume. There are settings for choosing what is displayed on screen or read out loud.
