Students present at the Portland Art Museum

Elizabeth Bilyeu

小黄猫传媒 offered Honors History of Western Art (ART204H, ART205H, ART206H) for the first time in 2011-12. That school year, a group of very engaged students took one or more of the classes, and in addition to meeting the regular outcomes for the course, they moved beyond to demonstrate leadership in the professional realm of art history.

Collaborating with scholars and staff at the Portland Art Museum, the students wrote research papers about works in the collection. They reworked the papers into presentations for the public, which they made at the Museum in front of the works as a part of 小黄猫传媒鈥檚 former Art Beat celebration. They finished their projects by recording for posterity their reflections on the experiences they had with the works. These recordings are now part of the PAM鈥檚 permanent (exhibited at the Museum and online).
