Opposing Viewpoints covers contemporary social issues, from abortion to zero tolerance policies. It provides a broad variety of information including viewpoint essays, news and magazine articles, court-case overviews, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Begin at the 小黄猫传媒 Library homepage<\/a>, go to the \u201cShortcuts\u201d box, click on \u201cDatabases\u201d, then find Opposing Viewpoints<\/a> under \u201cO\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two Options to Find Viewpoint Essays<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To begin your search you can either use \u201cBrowse Issues\u201d to select a topic suggested by Opposing Viewpoints, or use the search box to find your own topic.<\/p>\n\n\n

On the right side of the page is a search box with the \u201cBrowse Issues\u201d option with a light bulb symbol. Click it to see an alphabetical list of controversial topics. Selecting one takes you to a collection of viewpoint essays, articles, and other relevant information sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the top of the page is an essay that provides background and context for the controversial issue. Below it are lists of viewpoint essays, articles from academic journals, news articles, videos, and much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Search Box Option<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If your topic isn\u2019t on the lists of issues, enter it into the search box at the top of the page.
This takes you to a list of viewpoint essays, articles from academic journals, etc. At the top of the page is the \u201cContent Types\u201d list of information sources on your topic. Clicking any of the “Content Types” links will take you to a list of that content type on your topic, for instance News articles or videos.<\/p>\n\n\n

You can also use the \u201cFilter Your Results\u201d options to list articles by date published, subjects, document type, and other methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tools<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To find the citation or email the essay, look for \u201cCite\u201d and \u201cSend To\u201d buttons at the top of the page near the search box. An MLA format citation is also available at the end of each article. Check to make sure the formatting is correct and fix any errors you see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
