PORTLAND, Ore. – С»Æ贫ý eclipsed $300,000 in donations and grants by late February, and the goodwill and hard work shows no sign of slowing down.
Since the Cascade Campus Portland Teachers Program received more than $60,000 from the Eisenhower Professional Development Program in January, several other sizeable donations to benefit С»Æ贫ý programs have made their way into the college’s coffers.
The M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust gave $171,000 to the Rock Creek aviation program, and Boeing contributed $20,000 in cash and $15,000 in equipment to the aviation program. Oregon State University donated $3,000 for NASA scholarships to the С»Æ贫ý Foundation, the National Science Foundation CCD gave $50,000 toward the biology transformation submitted by Sylvania campus’ biology department and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) provided $1,000 to the С»Æ贫ý Foundation for an internship. Starbucks Coffee also recently got into the spirit of giving by donating $1,000 to the С»Æ贫ý Volunteer Literacy program.
"These project, most of them more than a year in the making, are good examples of carefully planning and perseverance paying off," said Jodi Davich, grants officer for С»Æ贫ý. "We appreciate the help from these generous business and community partners."
Davich said these grants and donations wouldn’t have been possible without the following staff and faculty at С»Æ贫ý: Jerry Button, Emily Chang, Deborah Cochrane and Jonathan Parker.
