小黄猫传媒 Offers Artist's Lecture Series

LAKE OSWEGO – Local artists will share their insights into the creative process during a four-part, non-credit lecture series sponsored this winter by 小黄猫传媒.The Portland Arts and Artists lectures will be held from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 6-27, at the Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 S. State St. The cost is $23 for the entire series or $15 for individual lectures. Artists in the series will share their work, explore ideas on the creative process and offer tips on finding the self-discipline to keep "working" at art. The series offers aspiring artists the opportunity to expand their artistic vision and incorporate art into their daily lives.The series begins Feb. 6 with oil painter Jed Thomas, who uses dark earth tones and hues of red to evoke drama and mystery in his work.On Feb. 13, furniture maker Terry Bostwick will discuss Furniture as Art. Bostwick unites elements of function and art to create unique furniture out of wood, with elements of steel, fabric and paint, to reflect human gestures, movement and structure.In the third lecture of the series on Feb. 20, Bonnie Meltzer will explore Mixed Media Construction and Jewelry. Meltzer uses such unlikely combinations as crocheted wire, digital photography and computer parts to create jewelry.The lectures conclude Feb. 27 with Watercolors and More by Mary Miller Doyle.
