PORTLAND, Ore. – С»ÆÃ¨´«Ã½ ranks 58th in the nation in the number of associate’s degrees earned by students and remains No. 1 in that category in the state of Oregon.The information is from analysis by the Community College Week publication of U.S. Department of Education data. In 2001-02, С»ÆÃ¨´«Ã½ distributed 1,203 associate’s degrees, up by 2 percent from last year. The top-five degree-earning community colleges included Miami-Dade (4,422) and Valencia (3,626) in Florida, Nassau (2,876) in New York, Salt Lake (2,556) in Utah and Broward (2,534), also in Florida.Also, С»ÆÃ¨´«Ã½ ranked 48th in the country in associate’s degrees earned by Asian Americans with 125, up by 10 percent. In addition, the college ranked 52nd in non-minority degree-seekers and 45th in degrees earned in the health and sciences fields.С»ÆÃ¨´«Ã½, the largest post-secondary institution in Oregon, serves students at three comprehensive campuses, four workforce centers and offers classes at 200 sites in its five-county, 1,500-square-mile district.
