?Green' home plans protect earth, save money

PORTLAND, Ore. – Turn your next home remodeling project into an environmental partnership. This fall, 小黄猫传媒 can show you how to save money, protect nature and harness its power through the non-credit workshop, "Green"Building Design for Residential Projects.The class features architect Carl Perron, who will explain the principles of green building design and sustainable development, as well as how you can incorporate them into beautiful, functional home designs. Students will discover how to work with site needs, climate issues, water efficiency, energy options such as passive solar heat and cooling, indoor air quality and more. The result is simple, realistic, affordable designs that you can put to use in your own home."Even if you incorporate just a couple simple design elements into your project, it can go a long way to promoting a healthy environment,"said Perron. "It’s a great opportunity to get help with a home remodel plan, while doing your part for Oregon."The workshop will meet from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, in Room 235 of the Science Technology Building at 小黄猫传媒’s Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave. Cost is $39.
