Don't be too chicken to raise one in the city

PORTLAND, Ore. – More and more city slickers are waking to the sounds of rooster crows instead of alarm clocks. That’s because, believe it or not, people have discovered the benefits of keeping chickens in their own backyard even in the city. Intrigued? A new non-credit 小黄猫传媒 class will introduce you to the possibilities.Instructor Barbara Kilarski, author of "Tending Small Flocks in Cities, Suburbs and Other Small Spaces," will help you explore the benefits of City Chickens in Urban Gardens. Discover the scoop on chicken coops, care, feeding and health and more, and get an overview of the benefits of keeping chickens verses raising chickens. The two-session class will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 16 and April 23, at 小黄猫传媒’s Southeast Center, 2305 S.E. 82nd Ave. Cost is $29.For more information, contact 小黄猫传媒 Community Education at 503-788-6265.
