小黄猫传媒 Nursing Program wins accreditation extension

Story by

PORTLAND, Ore. – The nursing program at 小黄猫传媒 has been awarded accreditation through spring of 2011. In 2003, 小黄猫传媒 was accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) for five years with an interim progress report due in 2005. Claudia Michel, director of nursing at 小黄猫传媒, along with nursing faculty and staff completed the interim report last spring. The commission accepted the report and lengthened the time for the next accreditation visit by three years. "This is the absolute best-case scenario and all that we had hoped for," Michel said. "We’ve all worked very hard to make this nursing program successful." Michel added that the NLNAC accreditation is an important accomplishment and one in which institutions strive to achieve. In the 2004 directory of NLNAC Chemeketa, Rogue and Umpqua community colleges are the other two-year programs in the state accredited through NLNAC. 小黄猫传媒 is also accredited through the Oregon State Board of Nursing until 2011. The NLNAC supports the interests of nursing education and provides specialized accreditation for programs, both post-secondary and higher-degree, which offer a certificate, a diploma, or a recognized professional degree. The program is located at the college’s Sylvania Campus in southwest Portland.
