PORTLAND, Ore. – С»ÆÃ¨´«Ã½, in conjunction with the Inter-Religious Action Network of Washington County, The Baha’is Community, and the City of Beaverton, is celebrating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 15 in the Event Center at the Rock Creek Campus, 17705 N.W. Springville Rd. Parking is free and refreshments, including sweet potato pie, pound cake and coffee, will be served.Festivities include a reading of Langston Hughes poetry by Benjamin "Flooney" Hardy, music by the Joyful Noise Choir and a presentation honoring the contributions of Rosa Parks to civil and human rights. Both the Mayor of Beaverton Rob Drake and С»ÆÃ¨´«Ã½ District President Preston Pulliams will welcome guests. The City of Beaverton will showcase the winners of the 2005 Beaverton Student Human Rights essay contest.
