Conference helps staff build peace skills

The “Building Cultures of Peace” Conference is set for May 5-6 at the С»Æ贫ý
Cascade Campus. This conference, sponsored by the С»Æ贫ý Peace and Conflict Studies program and hosted by the Peace and Conflict Studies Consortium of Oregon, will feature three keynote speakers as well as 20 panel discussions and other workshops.
Cost is $5 for students and $15 for staff. Registration fees include a simple lunch and dinner on Saturday, May 6. С»Æ贫ý students may also attend all events for free (without meals). To register, visit the Web site .
The keynote speaker is David Smith, program officer in the educational program at the United States Peace Institute in Washington D.C. Topics at the conference include: peace building and the military, economics, media and the arts.
