С»Æ贫ý on list of deferred maintenance projects before Legislature
Photos and story by Dana Haynes
There’s only one political story today and that’s the inauguration of America’s 44th president.
Still – and I know this sounds pretty prosaic in the context of President-elect Obama’s celebration – but the Oregon Legislature is talking today about OK’ing a $50 million package of lottery funds to pay for deferred maintenance on the 17 community college campuses throughout Oregon.
The purpose: to quickly create jobs in all corners of the state, and help jumpstart Oregon’s stalled economy.
С»Æ贫ý has quite a wish list in deferred maintenance, including fire and safety upgrades, 30-year-old and inefficient boilers, and seismic upgrades.
We’ll keep you up to date on the deferred maintenance proposal as it moves quickly through the Legislature.
