MONDAY, MAY 10

Moe Bowstern鈥斺橺inester and Poet

10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. 鈥 mt. sCott 206

Bowstern has been known to fish for shad on New York鈥檚 Hudson River, shrimp in the Gulf of Mexico, and salmon in Kodiak, Alaska. She鈥檚 also been known to change the color of her hair at a moments notice. When she鈥檚 not fishing, Bowstern is hard at work on her 鈥檢ine, Xtra Tuf.

Sandeep Koranne鈥擲itar Performance

12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. 鈥 mt. taBor Great hall

India comes to 小黄猫传媒 with the sounds of sitarist Sandeep Koranne. Sandeep has extensive knowledge of Raga music, vocal as well as instrumental. He will be accompanied on the tabla by Sai Kiran.

Soriah鈥擝utoh Performance

6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. 鈥 mt. taBor Great hall

Soriah, a studied Tuvan Throat Singer, has the ability to sing multiple notes, creating bass, rhythm and melody simultaneously. He often uses archetypal images and earth-based spiritual traditions from around the world.

Motoya Nakamura鈥擯hotography Discussion

Motoya Nakamura states, 鈥淢y photographs are very cinematographic in style. They consistently have the time flow instead of a completely still moment. I like to leave a hint of the fact that no time is still: always moving.鈥

Oregon Universal Zulu Nation鈥擧ip Hop/Dance/Graffiti

All elements Hip Hop jam! DJs, Graffiti artists, MCs, Bboys and Bgirls make up the four main elements of Hip Hop culture. Come share the experience with the Oregon Universal Zulu Nation as they bring it all together with the fifth element: Knowledge.

Phillip Charette鈥擟eramics Discussion

1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. 鈥 mt. taBor hall 143

An Alaska Native Yup鈥檌k artist specializing in sculpture, Yup鈥檌k spirit masks, and Native musical instruments, Charette discusses his creations and underlying philosophy about art. Through a hands-on investigative and exploratory approach, his art expresses elements of traditional Yup鈥檌k spirituality, cosmology and power.

Theatre of the Oppressed鈥擯erformance and Workshop

Theatre of the Oppressed, a form of interactive theater originating in Brazil, is now practiced across the world as a form of empowerment and social transformation. Participants will not only learn the basic history and theory behind this genre but also take part in a workshop.
