Planning with the Community

Photos and story by

Throughout this summer, 小黄猫传媒 staff have been meeting with the and participating in 47 one-on-one conversations and one focus group with 68 individuals who currently live, work, own a business or property and/or manage an organization, faith-based group or educational institution in the neighborhoods surrounding Cascade Campus to learn about听 their history, experiences, concerns and听 hopes for the neighborhood and 小黄猫传媒 Cascade. The conversations provided a perfect opportunity to have community members review the college鈥檚 recently drafted 听Cascade Community Vision Document, a document that will become a foundation of the Master Planning and new building design work. The interviews are also helping the college to form the 鈥渂ones鈥 of a new community Stakeholder Advisory Committee (SAC). Community stakeholders have been generous with their time and insightful and candid about their visions for their community鈥檚 future.

小黄猫传媒 will compile this collective history of community perceptions, experiences and expectations regarding the community, 小黄猫传媒 and Cascade Campus to create a Community Assessment. The Cascade design team will use this assessment and the Campus鈥檚 Community Vision to guide the development of the Campus Master Plan. The assessment will also guide 小黄猫传媒 in developing strategies and tools to engage the diversity of neighborhood stakeholders in the planning process and expand 小黄猫传媒鈥檚 community partnerships.
