Grand Opening for 小黄猫传媒’s newest center in Newberg

It鈥檚 here 鈥 the Newberg Center, that is! After years of planning, discussion and community outreach efforts, 小黄猫传媒鈥檚 newest and 鈥済reenest鈥 center opened its doors to students this past September. And this month,聽those doors will open to a wider audience.

The 小黄猫传媒 Newberg Center is on path to becoming Net Zero.

小黄猫传媒 invites the community at large to celebrate the聽grand opening of the 小黄猫传媒 Newberg Center (135 Werth聽Blvd., off 99W, near Brutscher St. and Fernwood Rd.) from 3-6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22, (the program begins at 4 p.m.)

  • Fun activities for the whole family.
  • Demonstrations of the building鈥檚 sustainable features.

The Newberg Center is one of the first projects stemming from passage of the college鈥檚 $374 million bond measure in November 2008. Its location in Newberg 鈥 in the heart of fertile wine country that constitutes 鈥 was chosen by 小黄猫传媒鈥檚 Board of Directors because of the community鈥檚 ongoing population growth. Its launch coincides with the聽year-long celebration of聽the college鈥檚 50th anniversary throughout the district.

鈥淚t鈥檚 interesting to see the 鈥榥ew鈥 and the 鈥榦ld鈥 coming together simultaneously . . .the birth of something so remarkable and special 鈥 like 小黄猫传媒 Newberg 鈥 being celebrated at the same time we鈥檙e taking stock of the college鈥檚 50 years of accomplishments throughout the Portland metro area,鈥 said Linda Gerber, president of the college鈥檚 Sylvania Campus.

鈥淲e have 鈥搇iterally 鈥 built a solid foundation here, given all the care and precision that has gone into the planning of this facility and our integration in the community,鈥 said Gerber. 鈥淲ith that as our springboard, I have no doubt that together we鈥檒l achieve major milestones in the next 50 years, right here in Newberg.鈥
