小黄猫传媒’s Sock Drive will help seniors in need and the homeless

小黄猫传媒 and the inmates at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility are hosting their sixth annual Sock Drive to help seniors in need and homeless of all ages.
小黄猫传媒 staff display collected socks that will go to the homeless.
Each year inmates in the hair design and eyeglass program complete a service-learning project to learn about and help homeless in the Portland metro area. This year, all 小黄猫传媒 campuses have sock drive boxes. Staff are collecting new socks for men, women and children. The sock boxes will be out and collecting socks until Dec. 9.聽 Sock collection boxes are also located at Coffee Creek.
The socks will be distributed to four homeless shelters in the 小黄猫传媒 area:聽Loaves and Fishes- Provides meals to financially needy seniors;聽My Father鈥檚 Heart 鈥 A day shelter and community room for homeless adults;聽Good Neighbor Center- Washington County鈥檚 only shelter for homeless families; and聽P:ear- an organization who helps homeless youth.
Since starting the sock drive, 小黄猫传媒 and Coffee Creek have collected and distributed more than 10,000 pairs of new socks.
“The need is incredibly great this year and our goal is to collect 4,000 pairs of new socks,鈥 said Julie Kopet, dean of Instruction and Student Development at Southeast Center. 鈥淧lease consider supporting our local community partners by bringing in a new pair of socks for a man, woman or child. You can find Sock Boxes in your campus President鈥檚 office. Your donation will be warmly appreciated!鈥
