Free tickets for March 15 science lecture

The next set of free tickets for the Linus Pauling Lecture Series is now available for students (one ticket per person). The tickets are for Paul Alivisatos on the topic of This lecture is scheduled for 7 p.m., Thursday March 15 at the Schnitzer Concert Hall in downtown Portland. The tickets are available for students only up until Thursday, March 8 when they become available to any 小黄猫传媒 staff or faculty member. To get one, ask at the circulation desk at any of the 小黄猫传媒 libraries, or at the information booths of Southeast Center and Hillsboro.

As director of Berkeley Lab, Alivisatos has launched two major scientific initiatives, 鈥淐arbon Cycle 2.0,鈥 a multidisciplinary approach to developing ways to help restore the balance in Earth鈥檚 carbon cycle, which has been adversely affected by human activity, and the 鈥淣ext Generation Light Source,鈥 the world鈥檚 first facility capable of producing x-ray pulses measured in attoseconds, the timescale needed to capture the movement of electrons. Alivisatos has also proactively invigorated Berkeley Lab鈥檚 safety culture and elevated the Lab鈥檚 community outreach efforts.
