‘Bioneers’ Sustainability Conference to be ‘Beamed’ at Cascade Oct. 19-21

Members of the 小黄猫传媒 community, as well as the general public, will have the opportunity to view and participate in the upcoming 鈥淏ioneers鈥 sustainability conference in San Rafael, Calif. 鈥 without leaving Portland.
鈥淏eaming Bioneers鈥 鈥 set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Oct. 19 through Sunday, Oct. 21 in the Moriarty Auditorium at 小黄猫传媒鈥檚 Cascade Campus, 705 N. Killingsworth St. 鈥 will allow participants to take part in one of the world鈥檚 leading forums on sustainability and ecological responsibility.
鈥淏ioneers brings together social and scientific innovators to address pressing issues in sustainability and social justice that face our culture today,鈥 said Esther Forbyn, student body president at Cascade Campus and one of the event鈥檚 organizers.
Each day of Beaming Bioneers will feature the 鈥渂eaming鈥 portion from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., during which attendees will be able to see the speakers and presentations from the San Rafael conference. The remainder of each day will be given over to in-person speakers, workshops, and performances, including a performance from the world-renowned Jefferson Dancers (from Jefferson High School in North Portland) at 3:30 p.m. Fri., Oct. 19. Free coffee will be provided throughout the event by Caf茅 Mam and the Cherry Sprout Market.
Other speakers and presentations will include the Urban Farming Collective (live and in person at 2 p.m. on Oct. 19); Bill McKibben of 350.org (via simulcast at 9 a.m. on Oct. 20); The ReBuilding Center (live and in person at 2 p.m. on Oct. 20); and Paul Hawken, author of 鈥淣atural Capitalism鈥 (via simulcast at 11:45 a.m. on Oct. 21).
This is the first time that Beaming Bioneers will be presented in Portland, said Forbyn.
鈥淏ioneers is expensive to attend in person,鈥 she said, 鈥渁nd most Beaming Bioneers sites charge admission as well. We made an effort to make our event cost-free so that Portland could be part of this important discussion.鈥
