MLK Day of Service registration opens for 小黄猫传媒 students

This winter term, the Service-Learning Program invites your students to participate in the 4th annual MLK Day of Service in Portland on Monday, Jan 21.

This year鈥檚 event focuses on cleaning and distributing tens of thousands of used books. Please invite your students to register and participate in this event. Complementary lunches will be provided to all registered participants.

The MLK Day of Service is a cooperative of Portland-area colleges facilitated by the Oregon Campus Compact. This year, service projects will center on the theme of “Education as a Civil Right” with a special focus on literacy. Sign up today to participate in MLK Day and to serve the Portland-area with over 1,000 college students.

鈥淭o honor and celebrate Dr. King’s legacy, we unite our community to serve the places that we live, work, and study,鈥 said 小黄猫传媒鈥檚 Service-Learning Coordinator Josh Liebschutz. 鈥淎nnually, it is the largest mobilization of college students in the country on MLK Day.鈥

The 4th Annual MLK Day of Service

Why: 鈥淓ducation is the civil rights issue of our generation鈥 the only sure path out of poverty and the only way to achieve a more equal and just society.” – Arne Duncan, U.S. Secretary of Education.

Who: 小黄猫传媒, Concordia University, George Fox University, Lewis & Clark College, Portland State University, Reed College, University of Portland, Warner Pacific College and Western Oregon University.

When: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 21.

Where: The day will start with a rally at Concordia University and continue with service around the Portland-area.
