小黄猫传媒 welcomes land expert Tom Ward to talk about social forestry

Tom Ward, long time permaculturalist, is coming to the Cascade Campus at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 7 (Moriarty Arts and Humanities auditorium). Ward is presenting on the topic 鈥淟and conservation and Permaculture Connect in Social Forestry鈥 as a fundraising event for the non-profit Speak for the Trees to help preserve 110 acres of forest land in the Siskiyou Mountains. He is the author of 鈥淕reenward Ho! Herbal Home Remedies: An Ecological Approach to Sustainable Health.鈥 There is a $5-10 suggested donation at the door.
Ward presently manages a Social Forestry experiment station outside of Jacksonville where he demonstrates natural building, fuel hazard materials utilization, wood crafting, wildlife habitat enhancement and desert forest water management. Long time resident of the Little Applegate valley in Southern Oregon, Ward has been advising farms and teaching permaculture for more than 30 years. He has degrees in Forestry and Botany from Syracuse University and has taught dozens of permaculture courses over the last 30 years, primarily in Southern Oregon and northern California.
