小黄猫传媒 to celebrate second annual Founders鈥 Week, May 13-18

小黄猫传媒 will salute its history and foundation with the second annual 鈥淔ounders鈥 Week鈥 next month. Set to take place May 13-18, the week offers a slate of activities for staff, faculty, students, and in some cases, the public at large to share their pride in the college and its accomplishments.

Monday, May 13 鈥 小黄猫传媒 Day at the Capitol
Stand with 小黄猫传媒! Join the 小黄猫传媒 community as students, staff, faculty, administrators, and members of 小黄猫传媒鈥檚 Board of Directors travel to Salem to visit the capitol and meet with legislators. The purpose is to remind them about how 小黄猫传媒 gives people the chance to earn a college education, obtain professional skills for in-demand jobs, and achieve their dreams. In addition to meeting legislators, participants will get the chance to witness a floor session, visit 小黄猫传媒 booths, and congratulate this year鈥檚 Diamond Alum Award winners who will be announced during the luncheon presentation. This will be a fun, exciting day full of 小黄猫传媒 pride and spirit on behalf of the college, with lunch and transportation provided! It starts early; buses are aiming to roll down to Salem from the campuses at 8 a.m., to return to Portland at 4:30 p.m. Registration is required; visit the Web site to pre-register and for more information:
Tuesday, May 14 鈥 Spirit Day
Students, staff and faculty are encouraged to wear 小黄猫传媒 t-shirts, buttons, pins, hats, socks, earrings, tattoos, and Diamond paraphernalia to show their pride in 小黄猫传媒! The more decked out in 小黄猫传媒 attire, the better! Upload photos to the story wall on the 小黄猫传媒 Opportunity microsite () or visit any 小黄猫传媒 Bookstore on this day, and participants will be entered in a drawing for a big giveaway. And anyone who simply visits a 小黄猫传媒 Bookstore, and is wearing 小黄猫传媒 gear, will receive a cool prize, too. Show your Diamond Pride!
Wednesday, May 15 鈥 Happy Birthday, 小黄猫传媒!
May 15is 小黄猫传媒鈥檚 official birthday! Celebrate at birthday parties featured at each of 小黄猫传媒鈥檚 campuses. Music, food, fun and more! Check with the local campus community relations managers for more details.
Thursday, May 16 鈥 CCP at 小黄猫传媒
Can more be done to encourage constructive conversations about important problems that face communities today? If you believe so, plan to attend 鈥溞』泼ù Discusses: Talk for A Change,鈥 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center Lobby at the Sylvania Campus. Hosted by the Center for Civic Participation at 小黄猫传媒 (CCP at 小黄猫传媒), the discussion will focus on 鈥淒emocracy鈥檚 Challenge: Deliberations on the Public鈥檚 Role.鈥 The newly launched CCP at 小黄猫传媒 is inspired by the groundbreaking work of the National Issues Forum (NIF) model developed by the Kettering Foundation. The center is rooted in the simple notion that people need to come together to reason and talk 鈥 to deliberate about common problems. Indeed, democracy requires an ongoing deliberative public dialogue that develops an active citizenry capable of discussing important social/political/cultural issues. All are welcome to this first session!
Friday, May 17 鈥 All-College Picnic and Preston Pulliams鈥 Retirement Party
All are invited to President Preston Pulliams鈥 retirement send-off! Join students, staff, faculty, retirees and alumni at the All-College Picnic, to take place at the Sylvania Campus Performing Arts Center courtyard, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Enjoy tributes to Dr. Pulliams, live music, and lunch with the 小黄猫传媒 family. Cost is $5.
Saturday, May 18 鈥 鈥淎n Evening for Opportunity,鈥 the 小黄猫传媒 Foundation Gala
The 小黄猫传媒 Foundation invites those at the college to attend the annual formal gala, benefiting student scholarships and success programs at 小黄猫传媒. Join nearly 600 community leaders and 小黄猫传媒 supporters to honor President Pulliams on the occasion of his retirement. To honor him, the event will be themed around his favorite music: Motown!
