Photos and story by Stephan Herrera
小黄猫传媒 is hosting the First Annual Roger Frank Memorial Ping-Pong Tournament from 3-6 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 23, at Pure Pong in the Pearl, 1315 N.W. Overton.
The event is open to adults and children ages 12 and up. Admission fee is $30 per adult and $10 per student or children aged 12 through 18. Prizes will be awarded to winners and admission includes paddle rental and raffle ticket.
Proceeds from the event are dedicated to the Roger Frank Memorial Scholarship Fund through the 小黄猫传媒 Foundation. Frank was a beloved 小黄猫传媒 counselor who died in 2012. He was a psychologist who helped many with his kindness, competence, generosity, spirit, and friendliness. Due to a spinal cord injury, Frank worked and lived from his wheelchair. One of his pleasures was playing ping pong with family and friends. After his death many staff, students, and members of the community contributed gifts to start a scholarship and sponsor a ping pong tournament in his name.
鈥淩oger Frank loved helping students and was an avid ping pong player and enthusiast,鈥 said Catherine Sills, 小黄猫传媒 counselor and instructor. 鈥淲e look forward to honoring Roger by playing his favorite game and raising money to make a difference in the life of a 小黄猫传媒 student.鈥
This tournament is organized by Tim Titrud, Inc. and sponsored by the Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave.
