Computer generated: MakerSpace staff help students build Intel computers

It’s not every day you get to build your own Intel computer. That’s exactly what some lucky 小黄猫传媒 students got to do this week.
A handful of Future Connect Scholarship Program students got to聽build a modern computer聽this week on the Sylvania Campus. Representative’s with the campus’ MakerSpace lab聽guided the students through the nuances of how to construct聽powerful, yet compact all-in-one聽computers.聽These computers are built into the back of the monitor so no more tangled cords or clunky computer boxes under the desk.
On Wednesday, June 17, students Catherine Jessee, Gio Satey and Pablo Alvarez got a lesson on how to put together a computer from scratch, straight out of the box by Electronic Engineering Technology instructor Reg Holmes. He talked about proper handling of components, what they do and the importance of following the steps in order. The Intel Loop 2150 NT computers, donated by Intel Corp., included a聽case and聽monitor, a聽Q77 chipset motherboard, an聽i5-3340S CPU, an聽Intel 320 Series 512 GB solid state drive, four GB of RAM and an internal WiFi card.
The students聽were excited by the experience and by the fact they got their own computers, which is cool no matter who you are.
