Fifty students win passports to facilitate their study abroad opportunities

Fifty聽小黄猫传媒 students got free聽passports聽to study anywhere they want in the world thanks to the Council on International Education Exchange (CIEE).
This great deal (passports are typically $135 each) happened at聽the聽International Education Week MiniFair and Passport Caravan held in the Sylvania Campus’聽Performing Arts Center lobby on Tuesday, Nov. 17.聽The free passports, provided聽by 小黄猫传媒’s Education Abroad & Internationalization Steering Committee and CIEE, were part of 小黄猫传媒’s International Education Week celebration Nov. 16-20. The goal of the Passport Caravan was to highlight聽the college and CIEE’s聽commitment to lowering barriers and increasing access to international exchange for students.聽Agents from the Portland passport office were聽on hand to help them聽complete the passport process.
In addition, the adjoining MiniFair featured information tables providing information about international opportunities for 小黄猫传媒 students, faculty and staff as well as international food, live music and cultural demonstrations by聽students.

Dawn, they had a similar event at Rock Creek, again with 50 students and the time frame you could apply to have one of the 50 was narrow, but they “sold out” of spots extremely fast, enough for the response to be, from RC, that we didn’t realize how popular this would be and that we see there’s a demand and can hopefully do this again in the future. So don’t lose hope of being able to take advantage of this in the future. Hopefully the application process will be more publicized in the future though as it was, in my opinion, poorly advertised to the student body as a whole (although apparently enough to allow at least 100 students to get free passports).
Great to see, and glad to hear that this program could be expanded! CIEE is a good resource that all students should be aware of in planning their college studies at both community and four-year colleges.
