On Jan. 3, Bank of America gave the much-heralded Future Connect Scholarship Program a shot in the arm.
Roger Hinshaw, Bank of America Market President Oregon & SW Washington, handed 小黄猫传媒 President Mark Mitsui a check for $25,000 to help fund the growing program, which focuses on eliminating barriers to attending college through comprehensive, ongoing support throughout a student鈥檚 time at 小黄猫传媒.
Future Connect targets low-income, first-generation college students who aspire to attend college but face barriers to success. Launched in 2011, the program targets high school students in Multnomah County, Columbia County, Portland Public Schools, Hillsboro, and Beaverton. A new report by Education Northwest indicates the scholarship program has had a positive impact, boosting college completion or transfer rates within three years by 11 percent.
