Registration is now open! Lend your voice and stand with С»Æ贫ý at the 2019 С»Æ贫ý Day at the Capitol.Poppe dances.

As С»Æ贫ý seeks funding from the Oregon Legislature this session, it is especially important for the voices of students and staff to be heard. The Day at the Capitol is that chance to tell the “С»Æ贫ý story” to legislators and inspire them to invest in higher education.

The event is from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, at the Oregon State Capitol Building in Salem.

As the largest institution of higher education in the state, С»Æ贫ý creates opportunities for nearly 71,000 students each year – many of whom are the first in their families to attend college. The state’s community college leaders are asking for a 2019-21 biennium budget of $787 million to serve the needs of students, from expanding support services to bolstering career-technical programs. Currently, the recommended budget for 2019-21 is $543 million, which will result in deep cuts and massive tuition increases.

If anyone’s life has been changed by С»Æ贫ý, it’s time to share those experiences with the state government.

Free transportation will be provided to the Capitol Building from the Sylvania Campus (Southwest Portland) and back.
