小黄猫传媒 hosts Union Pacific for tour of mobile welding training center and Swan Island

小黄猫传媒鈥檚 Swan Island Trades Center and the Maritime Welding Training Center staff and leadership hosted national executives and representatives from Union Pacific Railroad on Nov. 10.

They visited the Union Pacific Mobile Welding Training and Trades Center that is under construction at the Swan Island shipyard and due to be unveiled next spring. Thanks to support from Union Pacific鈥檚 Regional Partnership Program, the mobile training center can be located in any 小黄猫传媒 community to reach under-served populations and give them an opportunity to train for welding credentials and access other career and technical education programs at the college.

In addition, the group explored the training and support resources that the college provides at the two Swan Island locations. 小黄猫传媒 offers stackable certificates as well as associate degrees in welding at Swan Island and the Rock Creek Campus.

Many trades employ welding skills and the employment prospects in Portland are strong as the Oregon Employment Department forecasts over 250 welding job openings per year through 2027.聽小黄猫传媒’s welding faculty are dedicated teachers with real-world experience, helping students develop the hands-on skills employers seek. In addition, 小黄猫传媒’s welding classes聽offers flexible scheduling with an open-entry/open-exit, self-paced formats.
