Open Educational Resource users, OER Fun Day is for you!
Photos and story by Misty Bouse
Because faculty and staff work hard using Open Educational Resource (OER) materials, they save students thousands of dollars every year at 小黄猫传媒. So, instructors and staff, this party invitation is for the community! Pick a campus: 聽June 6 on Cascade Campus Library Quad or June 9 on Rock Creek Campus Event Center, both are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.聽 Attend “OER Fun Day” and celebrate with聽Open Oregon Educational Resources staff while enjoying food and prizes.
OER not only saves students money, it improves course materials and provides a more accessible education. To honor OER at 小黄猫传媒, the college is convening a celebration with an emcee, door prizes, food and a photo booth.
Instructors are concerned about the impact of high textbook costs on 小黄猫传媒 students.聽Biology instructor Michelle Huss is an OER user like more than 20% of 小黄猫传媒 faculty and is a co-chair of the OER Steering Committee with Reference Librarian Jen Klaudinyi. They are part of a group planning this party and are personally encouraging the college community to join in on the 鈥淎ll Play 鈥 No Work!鈥 fun.
鈥淎nyone who uses OER in their courses, or works to support their adoption and development, should come,” Huss said. “This is for all of us. Come for 15 minutes or stay the whole time.聽Students, if your class materials were free or low-cost, please tell your instructor to come and cheer them on. Or go get a picture together.”
Attendees get to meet other OER users, relax and have a good time!
