Students should work with an advisor to determine whether to take second language coursework as part of their electives.聽Students wishing to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree at any Oregon public university other than Western Oregon University must demonstrate second language proficiency (note that a Bachelor of Science degree is also an option at some universities, and does not require second language proficiency).聽 Options for demonstrating proficiency vary by university and may include: successful completion of ASL, CHN, FR, GER, JPN, RUS, or SPA 203 or 251 as part of electives; university-approved proficiency-based assessment in any second language; university-approved documentation of native speaker status in any language other than English; completion of 4 years of high school study of a second language.

Any 100-level or 200-level credits can satisfy elective requirements for the AAT. Each Oregon public university has limits on the number of transfer credits in specific categories of electives (vocational-technical, PE, etc.) that can apply to the bachelor degree; students should work with an advisor to determine their electives based on their transfer plans.
