Details about this class

This is a flipped classroom. You will watch videos before class and then we will do activities related to the material during class, such as collecting data around campus and engaging with real world statistics examples.

I use a Proficiency based grading schema in my STAT243 class. This means that your final grade will be based on demonstrating proficiency in the concepts, primarily through proctored exams. I setup homework and a class structure to help you stay on track to learning the material. I also clearly communicate what you need to do to meet each standard with clearly defined rubrics. You will have the opportunity to improve your grade on each standard throughout the class.

Students appreciate that Proficiency based grading is more flexible. They often find that they learn the material in a deeper way with Proficiency based grading. Students also find that they need to manage their time more carefully with this system.

Technology

You will need to watch lecture videos before class. You will also need a spreadsheet technology (we use Google Sheets in class, which comes with your 小黄猫传媒 email address for free).

No show policy

Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
