Nell Tremagne | “shelter as rhythm”

This was my submission for the week 7 assignment, which was to create a drawing that included words from the 鈥淓nd Poem鈥 from Minecrafty. I chose the words 鈥渋t dreamed of shelter鈥, which recalled for me all the issues surrounding the mistreatment and displacement of homeless people in Portland, and my own brushes with homelessness. I had been doing a lot of studies based on 鈥渁semic鈥 (non-semantic) writing at the time, and this was my best attempt at trying to represent the structure and rhythm of poetry in an asemic style. The shape of the asemic components is meant to echo an urban landscape, and the words are kept under 鈥渃over鈥, so to speak, to further symbolize the theme.
