PORTLAND, Ore. – The Theater Arts program at С»Æ贫ý presents the provocative Greek comedy, "Lysistrata," adapted by С»Æ贫ý students. The student cast took the play, written in 411 B.C. by Aristophanes, and updated it to reflect today’s fast-paced social realities. The play is directed by Mark Collmer, part-time theater arts technician at С»Æ贫ý. Play contains adult themes and language. "Lysistrata is a leader of women who is tired of losing her children and lovers to war," said Michael Najjar, С»Æ贫ý Theater Arts instructor. "She convinces all the women of her society to band together and abstain from relations until peace is declared." The performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 19-21. There will also be matinee showings at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22. The shows will be held in the Little Theatre on the Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave. Tickets are $6 for general admission and $4 for students, staff and senior citizens. For tickets, please call the Little Theatre box office at 503-977-4848.
