小黄猫传媒 theatre production ‘Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’ explores the dark side

A 小黄猫传媒 Theatre Production explores this non-musical adaptation by Jeffrey Hatcher where the intensely evil Hyde emerges. But is he evil beyond expectation?

鈥淲hile Hyde is very dark, he鈥檚 not all evil. He loves, and is loved,鈥 said guest director Bobby Bermea. 鈥淚t鈥檚 the timeless duality of human nature 鈥 the idea that every single human being has good and evil within. But it remains a question for the audience.鈥Dr_Jekyll___Mr_Hyde-500x772

The Theatre Arts Program鈥檚 performance of 鈥滵r. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde鈥 is loosely based on the Gothic novella, 鈥漈he Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde鈥 by Robert Louis Stevenson as adapted by Hatcher and designed by Dan Hays, Sarah Gahagan, and Mike Pfaff. Guest director Bermea is the artistic director of Sojourn Theatre and founder of The Beirut Wedding World Theatre Project, a diversity based theatre company.

All performances are at the Sylvania Campus Performing Arts Center and run Thursday, May 18 through Sunday, May 21; curtain at 7 p.m., except Sunday鈥檚 closing matinee at 2 p.m. However, the Thursday opening matinee is at 11 a.m. and is 鈥減ay as you wish.鈥 As for accommodations, Friday鈥檚 performance will be audio-described for people who are blind or low-vision, whereas Saturday鈥檚 performance includes American Sign Language interpretation.

Content is generally suitable for ages 12 and up but it features violence and adult language; with a running time of 99 minutes, it includes a 10-minute intermission. Tickets are $10 general admission; $5 all students, seniors, veterans, and 小黄猫传媒 staff; cash or check only. No reservations are required but for large group reservations, call 971-722-4323.
