Programs of Study & Districts
A Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program of Study (POS) is developed to provide students with the necessary skills for entry to a post-secondary instruction, internship, apprenticeship or other avenues leading to jobs or career paths. They are designed to prepare students for self-sufficiency by developing knowledge and skills through a sequence of instruction and experiences.
POS do the following:
- Incorporate both secondary and post-secondary education elements
- Include rigorous content, challenging academic standards, and relevant career and technical content in a coordinated, non-duplicative series of courses that align secondary and post-secondary education
- May allow high school students to participate in dual or concurrent enrollment programs or otherwise acquire post-secondary credit
- May result in an industry-recognized credential or certificate, or associate or baccalaureate degree.
