Art History and Studio Art Instructor Qualifications Prior to June 2010
Studio Art courses Instructor
- For Studio Art courses a Master of Fine Arts is required for full-time, temporary, or part-time positions.
Exceptions include:
- A vacancy opens unexpectedly immediately before or during the term; a temporary replacement may then be hired to complete the term or academic year. The temporary replacement must have a combination of education and experience to adequately cover the course material as recommended by the Art Dept. Chair and approved by the Division Dean and Dean of Instruction.
- An opportunity exists to enhance the educational experience of Art students by offering a specialized class taught by an artist with specialized expertise and a local, regional, national, or international reputation.
- An individual with expertise and education in an area where an MFA is not an option, e.g., Calligraphy.

Studio Art Instructor
- Master of Fine Arts is required for any full time, temporary, or adjunct studio art position at С»ÆÃ¨´«Ã½. The only exception would be in the case of an emergency replacement or special offerings in which “equivalent “ qualifications means a local, regional and national reputation in their field (via exhibitions).
Studio Art History Instructor
- Master of Arts in Art History and 30 graduate credit hours in art history.

ART (Visual) Requirements
Art History/Western Art Instructor
- MA in Art History with emphasis/thesis in European Art, college level teaching experience in course preferred.
Art History/Asian Art Instructor
- MA in Art History with emphasis/thesis in Asian Art, college level teaching experience in course preferred. Prefer to hire separately according to cultural specialties: Indian, Chinese ore Japanese
History of Modern Art Instructor
- MA in Art History with emphasis/thesis in European Art, preference given to applicant whose academic work was done on post-Napoleonic period, college level teaching experience in course preferred. Additional preference given to applicant with MFA, BFA, or graduate work in studio.
Intro to Art Instructor
- N/A
Women in Art Instructor
- MA in Art history with emphasis/thesis in European Art, additional academic work in Asian/ Ethnic art and college level teaching experience in course preferred.
