English, Reading, and Writing Instructor Requirements

Education: MFA, MA or PhD in English, Literature, Writing, or Rhetoric/Composition,

OR

an MA or PhD in an interdisciplinary field with a minimum of 30 graduate quarter credit-hours in one or a combination of English, Literature, Writing, or Rhetoric/Composition.

Experience: Have taught at least four college-level composition classes or have equivalent college classroom experience through a mentoring or internship program.

Demonstrated Competency

These Instructor Qualifications closely track historic Composition/Literature qualifications at С»Æ贫ý. When Developmental English and Composition/Literature merged in 2019, an internal process was created for Developmental English faculty to alternatively meet these qualifications, as needed. This internal process is carried out at the discretion of the Program Dean and the Reading and Writing Program Coordinator.
